Local and State Politics

If you haven't heard by now, better listen up. There are some bills in the state legislature that are aimed at dramatically reducing our pension. Get educated, get involved. There are ways to look it up. There's a big push about it on Facebook. Here's a link to it:

The basic gist that I've heard from Phil who took the time to read the 93 page document, lowering our multiplier from 3% to 2%, making it 30 yrs and out. Imagine, from 75% of your salary in 25 yrs to 60% of your salary for 30 yrs!! There is more to it and hopefully others will get on here and inform us all.
We need to set up some groups of people that have the time and the interest to get politically active. Both for the state level and county level. As boring as it is to most people, this is where we are able to get what we want. Florida is a Right to Work state, basically anti-union. We need to weed out the politicians, find out who will support us when needed and support them to get elected. When one or more act against us, we need to act and get them booted out of office. I suggest we have two groups, State and County, to help organize the efforts. If it's not for you, at least do everything in your power to show up at gatherings in red shirts to show support. All I, we as a union, ask is a couple hours of your time to help us all out in the long run. I, personally, am more interested in the county level. We need to get more commissioners on our side. And I agree with Drew, just not the way he went about it. I don't trust Niblock, It's pretty obvious he did some backroom politicking to get his predecessor out and slither on into the position. What makes you think he won't do the same against us?
